Agent Opportunities

Selling real estate offers self starting individuals many exciting opportunities. The ability to work for yourself means the freedom to set your priorities and schedule to fit you and your family's schedule.

The income potential is only limited by your commitment and abilities. Many agents have found tremendous financial reward and personal accomplishment in the real estate business.

To become a real estate agent in Kansas, you must first obtain a real estate license. There are several steps to obtaining your license.

  1. Take and successfully pass the Principles of Real Estate pre-license class. (Info on this class can be found at the Kansas Association of REALTORS website at www.kansasrealtor.com, or at 800-366-0069). The class takes about four 8 hour days to complete.

  2. Take and successfully pass the sales person examination. The pre-license class (#1 above) will provide all the information on where and how to take the exam.

  3. Affiliate with a Kansas real estate managing broker. Gary Nuzum is the managing broker at McGrew Real Estate.

Another four day post license class is required within 180 days of getting your license. Additional continuing education is required at the rate of 12 class hours per every two years license renewal.

The costs of taking the classes and test, as well as joining the Lawrence Board of REALTORS, the Kansas Association of REALTORS, the National Association of REALTORS, and the Lawrence Multiple Listing Service is around $1500.

McGrew Real Estate provides additional sales training which is personalized depending on the needs of the agent.
